Welcome to my website. I am so happy to meet you. This section is all about me, but I would love to get to know you too. Please feel free to connect with me and tell me your story!
I LOVE BOOKS
I remember the first time I went to the school library. I was in first grade. So many books and I could take one home! One of the first books I took home to read was "The Pony Tail That Grew" by Winifred Bromhall. From then on I was hooked on reading.
Some of my favorite children's books include:
The Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder
The Little Women series by Louisa May Alcott
Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books by Betty MacDonald
The Great Brain series by John Dennis Fitzgerald
The Elsie Dinsmore series by Martha Finley
The Story of Helen Keller by Lorena Hickok
David Copperfield by Charles Dickens
The Black Stallion by Walter Farley
Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry
BEST FRIEND & LORD
The most important thing I ever did was to allow Jesus to take the reins of my life. I was eleven years old. As I rode the school bus my thoughts turned to Jesus. I supposed that those thoughts were my own; but I now know that it was the Holy Spirit speaking to me… to me, a child. So I asked Jesus to be my Lord forever.
Even children can live for Jesus! If you would like to make Jesus your Best Friend & Lord, you can believe that God has raised him from the dead for you, and pray this prayer letting him know that you are his!
Jesus, I believe you are God. I would like you to be my best friend and Lord. Come into my heart to stay forever. Thank you for forgiving all my sins. I choose to obey you now and always. Amen.
MISS MANDY MARIAH & ME
That's me riding Mandy. My first time riding, ever. The picture was taken in her first week with us. My dad is looking on and giving me tips. Mandy came with a foal, a colt. His name was Cherokee. You can see his hind end in the photo as well.
I grew up loving horses. They are some of the most beautiful creatures in God's creation. Mandy didn't come into our lives until I was in high school. I was 14 or 15 years old in this picture. And while I loved Mandy, she was not a top priority in my life at that time. In the end it was my younger sister who became Mandy's person. She joined 4-H with her. She took her on trail rides. And to my relief, she took over her care.
DRAMA CHANGED MY LIFE
I discovered drama in my senior year of high school. I played a munchkin in the Wizard of Oz. (I am only five feet and three inches tall!) I loved drama! In Romeo and Juliet I played two parts; a poor street vendor and a lady-in-waiting. I wasn't a great actress, but I took what I learned and used it in writing.
KIDS ARE MY FAVORITE PEOPLE
I have been surrounded by kids my whole life. I am the fifth of eight kids, I have nine kids of my own (yes nine)! I've had twenty eight foster children and I was in Children's Ministry for over thirty years. Now I am not only Nana, but I am also Nana-Great!
Writing combines so many of my favorite things in life; Jesus, kids, books, and horses!
A few of my other favorite things are; music, Italian food, old movies, popcorn and iced tea.
